font-kerning: inherit; font-feature-settings: inherit; font-variation-settings: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; text-indent: 2em; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;">传教士是西方宗教文化的直接传播者。明清时期，由于中国所采取的“禁教”政策，使得西方传教士在中国的活动受到很大的限制。随着英法等国迫使清政府签订了不平等的《天津条约》和《北京条约》，传教士被披上了“合法”的外衣，开始大规模、全方位地进入中国，进行传教活动。</p><p class="western" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-kerning: inherit; font-feature-settings: inherit; font-variation-settings: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; text-indent: 2em; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;">由九江进入江西最早的传教士是法国天主教的罗安当。他于1861年12月到达九江，并提出了在南昌扩建天主堂的要求，得到江西当局的许可。这样，罗安当就成为了清朝政府“禁教”大门被开后，首先进入江西的传教士。此后，各国教士纷至沓来，跨过九江大门，遍及江西全省。</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box;
