若考虑湖口到永修、瑞昌还差不多。 硬性指标估计五十年都无法达到 根据《国务院办公厅关于进一步加强城市轨道交通规划建设管理的意见》（国办发〔2018〕52号），“申报建设地铁的城市一般公共财政预算收入应在300亿元以上，地区生产总值在3000亿元以上，市区常住人口在300万人以上。申报建设轻轨的城市一般公共财政预算收入应在150亿元以上，地区生产总值在1500亿元以上，市区常住人口在150万人以上”。根据《江西省第七次全国人口普查主要数据公报》，我市市区常住人口116.43万人，因此，我市暂未达到申报建设轻轨或地铁的要求。
根据《城市综合交通体系规划标准》（GB/T51328-2018），“高峰小时单向客流量1-3万人次/h或客运强度1-2万人次/（km•d）宜选择城市轨道交通或快速公共汽车（BRT）或有轨电车系统，高峰小时单向客流量0.3-1万人次/h宜选择公共汽（电）车系统”。据九江市中心城区公交运行数据统计，市中心城区早高峰客流量为2896人次/h、晚高峰客流量为6940人次/h，因此，我市暂不具备建设有轨电车或BRT的条件。
综上，我市暂不具备发展上述城市轨道交通的条件。

（消息来源：九江市政府） 地铁成本太高，后期补贴也太厉害了，财政负担很大，就是九江人口够了，也不建议建。
应该早期规划轻轨，尽快把城区做大，人口一上去，就可以建轻轨，拉动城市经济。 过去九江抓计划生育好！人口还想上去！ 如果建地铁或轻轨，就一条线吧，要不很容易亏损，根据百度热力图和重点地区来确定线路。串在一起就行了。中间加火车站。
比如地铁从莲花镇→科技中专→濂溪区一中→职大→极地双峰→职业技术学院→九江学院→中医院→万达→火车站→湖滨小学财院→九江一中→九江小学同文→第一人民医院→附属医院→大中大妇幼→四码头信华广场→烟水亭→九龙广场→六中→九棉一厂→双语学校→抗洪广场→沿浔小区 总路程还不到二十公里，真小眼光！
