庐山站东广场改造项目是高铁组团重点建设项目之一，列入了2018年全市五大组团重点建设项目和柴桑区重点工程项目统一调度。此项目从1月正式启动，主要改造内容是将现有广场面积6.2亩扩大到30亩、实施广场硬化绿化亮化景观改造、实施广场临街外立面改造（包括周边房屋景观改造）、整治周边环境卫生，并加强站前车辆管理，以方便旅客出行的安全便利。整个工程项目涉及拆迁房屋115栋（户），征地约30亩。工程自启动以来，历经6个月的辛勤奋战，截止7月底，征地拆迁任务全面完成，并完成了拆除垃圾清理和场地平整工作，共投入资金约1.4亿元。8月底，又加紧完成了庐山站东广场硬化工程，硬化面积10080平方米，共计投资215万元。 细数起来：岳师门原址在现在的浔阳楼正对面，它曾是九江人的骄傲，给九江人们带来过很多荣光，就算是在九江土生土长的很多人也不知道，早就淹没在岁月的长河中了！曾经的岳师门（现在的浔阳楼几乎就是建在岳师门旧址上）面对长江，与锁江楼相呼应。是岳飞曾经镇守浔阳的地方。岳师门原名叫福星门，九江长江段历来是兵家必争之地，江湖锁匙，也叫“钥匙门”，音同“岳师门”，也是为了纪念一代英雄岳飞而改为“岳师门”。不能忘却的英雄——岳飞及岳母墓就在区域内，历史文化名城的见证——湓浦路“湓浦口”时年建造了一座古“琵琶亭”。被九江人误读的地方——梅绽坡老九江土豪（曾国藩的族人。）的寿礼——百岁坊。龙开河著名的铁桥头和著名两湖（南湖和甘棠湖）。

九江西站一直就是货运转运站 九江西站（Jiujiangxi Railway Station），（原名毛家桥站、沙河街北站），始建于1911年，是京九铁路线上一个货运站、编组站，位于中国江西省九江市，是中国铁路南昌局集团有限公司管辖的一等站，车站地址中国江西省九江市柴桑区沙河街镇。九江西站现是一个完全的货运编组站。
