本来免检和不用检就不是相同的两个概念，绝不可等同起来，根据公安部最新的年检政策规定，对非营运小客车、摩托车在10年内，只需要在第6年、第10年到检验机构上线检验，期间每两年申领一次检验标志；超过10年的，每年上线检验1次。所以“免检” ≠ “不用检”而是无需前往检测站检验，但仍需按时申领检验标志，未按规定时限进行检验，会被处警告甚至罚款，并非所有车辆都能享受“免检”免检范围：限定车型：小型、微型非营运载客汽车（面包车除外）、大型轿车、摩托车。

车辆存在下列情况的，不享受机动车“免检”政策，需按原规定上线检验：1.发生过造成人员伤亡的交通事故的；2.因非法改装被依法处罚的；.营运车辆变更为非营运的；4.车型为面包车的；5、自车辆出厂之日起，超过4年未办理注册登记手续的。属于免检车辆范围的，就可以在线申领检验合格标志，通过“交管12123”手机APP进入免检车申领检验标志业务，可以为已备案的本人免检车辆申领检验标志。
